My Story

I was born and raised in southern California, and from a young age, I felt a strong desire to serve my country. Upon graduating from high school, I made the decision to enlist in the Marine Corps, where I spent four years as a correctional specialist. My role involved maintaining order and discipline within military prisons, which provided me with invaluable experience in leadership and conflict resolution, especially in challenging and hostile environments. Following my military service, I pursued a degree in business administration with a specialization in human resources. Over the years, I transitioned from being an HR apprentice to eventually becoming an HR director, working closely with various companies. This exposure allowed me to handle a wide range of issues, from violence to sexual assault claims. Despite my successes, I became aware that my efforts were not leading to any significant change. This awareness prompted me to delve deeper into finding solutions to prevent these situations from occurring. While I excelled in reacting to situations and conducting thorough investigations, I acknowledged my lack of expertise in implementing effective prevention measures. It became evident to me that simply complying with the mandated sexual harassment and violence prevention trainings in California was not enough. I recognized the need for a more personalized approach that would resonate with employees and align with their unique work culture. Many existing trainings are generic in nature, with employees merely clicking through a few slides without truly engaging with the content. I was determined to bridge this gap by developing a training program that would not only meet the legal requirements but also establish a meaningful connection with employees, fostering a culture of respect and understanding in the workplace. This shift in focus from reactive measures to proactive prevention strategies marked a significant turning point in my professional journey within the HR field.
